The Building Decarbonization Strategy Game. 

Presentation Description

Test your knowledge of building decarbonization strategy through participating in this interactive session. The audience competes to see who can match common building decarbonization planning practices and improvement measures with the appropriate definitions and rank them in order of highest relative importance. The building decarbonization measures and practices cover a rang of the topics including project planning and delivery; building systems and equipment; building operations; and renewable energy. The session ends with a discussion of priorities for addressing the building industry education and training gaps and ideas to support ASHRAE chapter educational activities. 

Blake Ellis, PE, FASHRAE, LEED AP

Blake Ellis is a Principal with Burns & McDonnell leading the Midwest Region of the OnSite Energy & Power Group. In addition to leading the group, Blake leads district energy projects including: energy master plans, Central Utility Plants (CUP) and Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plants. 

Blake is active in ASHRAE with many roles including serving on the Board of Directors as a Director at Large, a member of the Task Force for Building Decarbonization (TFBD) Executive Committee, Vice Chair of Standard Project Committee 150-2019R, Board ExO to Publications Committee and a member of Publications & Education Council.

In addition to ASHRAE, Blake is involved with the International District Energy Association (IDEA).

Blake graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s of Business Administration. Blake is also an ASHRAE Fellow, LEED Accredited Professional and a Professional Engineer registered in fifteen states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
